Constitutional Originalism

Harvey’s Introduction

This is an interesting, somewhat wonky article that appeared in National Review on why most criticisms of originalists in constitutional law seem not to understand what originalists believe. Others make arguments that ignore the clear reasoning of originalists. The article was written in response to the silly arguments against Amy Comey Barrett this week. I found the essay interesting and sharpened my own understanding of the issue.

2020 Irving Kristol Award remarks

Harvey’s Introduction

Eberstadt is an absolutely brilliant scholar, whose opinions are founded in deep analysis and understanding. This is a written version of the speech he gave at the Annual Dinner at American Enterprise Institute, honoring the late Irving Kristol. This is well worth reading and then reading again. It is a hopeful message.

Analysis of the Biden Economic Plan

Harvey’s Introduction,

Democrats have touted the Biden economic plan as very helpful to the economy. They leave out the fact that all the stimulus in his plan comes from using debt, in the trillions, to get that growth. It is a plan that is economically bad. This article by an esteemed economist at American Enterprise Institute shows why that’s the case.

Harvey’s Introduction

Chris Pope, an outstanding scholar at Manhattan Institute wrote this essay exploring the policy and financial implications of Biden’s health care agenda. As you might expect, it is both impractical and expensive with large parts of it unnecessary.

Governing Priorities: Advice for America’s President

Harvey’s Introduction

The scholars at American Enterprise Institute are among the brightest and most thoughtful in America. In this compilation, nine of them offer their views on what the next president needs to do. They cover a range of topics from governmental reform, the pandemic, the looming debt crisis and others. I have not posted each of these essays but you can read them by clicking on the appropriate link.

The Revolution the US is Experiencing

Harvey’s Introduction

I am really afraid he’s correct but pray he’s wrong.

Hillary Clinton Orchestrated the Russia Collusion Farce

Harvey’s Introduction

Andrew McCarthy is a meticulous analyst and researcher who also writes exceedingly well and clearly. In this article, published in National Review, he takes us through the entire beginnings of the Russian/Trump collusion hoax. He shows it wasn’t Trump that colluded with the Russians to help his campaign; it was Clinton who actually colluded with the Russians to hurt his campaign. She had the assistance and support of elements in the State Department, the Intelligence agencies and the FBI. The hoax was known to and supported by then President Obama and key members of staff. its devastating and laid so well than even a dedicated Clintonista can see the light. Devastating

Australian Commentator

Harvey’s Introduction

I don’t know this guy, but his commentary on our presidential election is amazing. You must watch it

Biden Can’t Duck Trump’s Court

Harvey’s Introduction

Dan Henninger is one of the best writers on the WSJ editorial staff. In this insightful article he lays out how Conservatives and Liberals take an entirely different approach to thinking about the purpose of the Court. The left wants it to decide based on their policy preferences; the right based on the law. I’m sure my characterization of these views would be challenged by the left, but they would be wrong.

Trump Divided America???

Harvey’s Introduction

I found this email from a friend interesting. It purports to be an open letter to all Democrats from a Democrat. I cannot verify that assertion of authorship as true. I did not write this, but I wish I did. It needs to be shared. It addresses some of the questions about who to vote for as president next month and is in the form of a series of questions.
